Obituary: Mary Frances Callaway, 90, Worked for American Red Cross

Mary Frances Callaway, 90, of Bleinhem-Newport, formerly of Dianne Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Newport Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Captain Steven W. Callaway, USN, (Ret.).

Born in Newport, RI on March 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. Albro, Jr. and Mary (Danahy) Albro.

Mrs. Callaway was a 1941 graduate of Rogers High School. Before marriage, she was employed with the American Red Cross at the Newport Naval Base. Mary was a former member of Green Valley Country Club and the Newport Art Museum. She and her late husband, Steven, travelled the world together before retiring.

Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Donald J. Albro, Robert D. Albro, Thomas C. Albro, Cathryn Albro Barker and Nora Albro Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 10 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI.
