Obituary: Marion A. Viveiros, 88, WWII Veteran, Retired Teacher

Marion A. Viveiros, 88 of Portsmouth, died Friday at home.

He was the husband of Margaret (Silveira) Viveiros, his wife of 65 years.

Born on August 22, 1925, in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of late John P. Viveiros and Francisca Viveiros.

Marion retired after teaching for over 20 years in Providence Schools. He owned/operated J & M Printing Co. for 50 year. During World War II he served 3 years in the US Army. He was a founding and active member of the St. Barnabas parish. Other activities were a longtime member of the Portsmouth Knights of Columbus, golfer and enjoying tending to the landscaping of his home

Marion is survived by his wife, Margaret, one son James A. Viveiros of Denver, CO, two brothers Edward A. Viveiros of Wrightstown, NJ and Joseph Viveiros of Newport. He was predeceased by his daughter Marlene A. Viveiros of Portsmouth, his brother John P. Viveiros, Jr. of Newport and his sister Mary Viveiros of Manchester, NH.

Viewing hours will be held from 9 am to 11:30am, on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by a funeral mass at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, at 12:00pm. Burial will be in the St. Columba Cemetery on Brown’s Lane in Middletown.
