Lillian A. Flanders, 93, of Portsmouth, died at home on Friday, January 24, 2014.
She was the wife of the late Gerald Flanders.
Born in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Armando and Rose (Pasqualetti) Ruggeri.
Mrs. Flanders was born and raised in Newport on Elm Street and was the youngest sister of nine siblings. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1938, and went to secretarial school. During WWII, Lillian sang and performed for the local USO. She later worked at Franklin Printing. In later years, Lillian worked for the Local YMCA from which she retired.
She was the mother of the late Dennis M. Flanders and sister of the late Victor Ruggeri, Angeline Simpson, and Helena Ruggeri.
She is survived by her sons John F. Flanders and his wife Roxanne of Portsmouth, RI, Robert V. Flanders and his wife Inna of Fairfax, VA, her daughter in law Barbara Flanders, Washington State, her brother Rudolph Ruggeri and his wife Muriel of Springfield, MA, ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren
Her funeral was held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11:00am in the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
