Obituary: Gamil Kamel Hanna, 63, Worked at Newport Marriot

Gamil K. Hanna, 63, of Portsmouth, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Gamil was born on November 17, 1950, in Cairo, Egypt, to the late Kamel and Afifa (Iskandar) Hanna. 

He was the loving husband of Ferial (Kamel) Hanna.

Gamil served in the Egyptian Army before moving to the United States. He worked for the last 24 years at the Newport Marriott. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking care of his lawn, cooking on his grill, shopping, and especially spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Besides his wife Ferial, he is survived his daughter, Caroline Hanna of Newport, RI, his son, Joseph Hanna of Boston, MA, his sister, Aida Hanna of California, and extended family in Egypt.

Visiting hours will be at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, on Friday, April 4, 2014, from 5:00-7:00pm.

His funeral will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 11:00a.m, in St. Mary and St. Mena Coptic Orthodox Church, 8, Pendleton Street, Cranston, RI. His burial will follow in the Portsmouth Cemetery, Turnpike Avenue, Portsmouth, RI.
