Francis M. Lacerda, 74, of Middle Road, Portsmouth, RI, died at home on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 with his family at his side.
He was the husband of Anna (Silvia) Lacerda.
Born in Portsmouth, RI on June 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Bettencourt) Lacerda.
Mr. Lacerda was a backhoe operator for J&A Landscaping in Tiverton for over 25 years and for the former Lauders Construction in Portsmouth. He had also worked for the Portsmouth Highway Department. Mr. Lacerda was active with the Feast Committee and the Portuguese Night Committee at St. Barnabas Church in Portsmouth.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Banville and her husband Roland of Portsmouth, RI; his son, Francis M. Lacerda, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Portsmouth, RI; his sisters, Lucy Mee and her husband Gene of California and Dorothy Baccari and her husband James of Newport, RI; his brother, Joe Lacerda of Portsmouth, RI; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased in death by his siblings, Anthony and Henry Lacerda, and Mary Nunes and Belle Toner.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 4-7 pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 9 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI.
