Chase Matthews, 22, of East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at home.
Born in Providence, RI on September 11, 1991, he is the son of Wayne P. Matthews of Portsmouth, RI and Linda Matthews of Washington State.
Chase had various jobs as a snow plower, landscaper and painter. Chase also worked at Pizza Hut in Newport.
Chase attended Portsmouth High School; his favorite teacher was Megan Sullivan. He enjoyed skateboarding and spending time with his family and friends. The most precious thing in Chase’s life is his daughter, Karma.
In addition to his father and mother, he is survived by his daughter, Karma Matthews of Portsmouth, RI and her mother, Krysta Gomes; his sister, Sarah Matthews of Portsmouth, RI; his uncles; Richie Matthews of Portsmouth, RI, Daniel Matthews of Houston, TX and Robert Burke of California; and his aunt, Mary Burke of Newport, RI.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday March 20, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
Funeral services will be held at Connors Funeral Home on Friday March 21, 2014 at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
