Obituary: Bruce T. White, 60, Managed NAPA Auto Parts

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, at 9:00am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthony’s Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, burial will follow in Portsmouth Cemetery.

Bruce Thomas White, 60, of Portsmouth, passed away on July 11, 2014 at home after a courageous four year battle with cancer.

Born on November 2, 1953, he was the son of the late Alma (Pargen) White and Lawrence “Bud” White.

Bruce grew up in Portsmouth and was a 1971 graduate of Portsmouth High School. He graduated from Central Connecticut State College in 1975, and was the manager of NAPA Auto Parts for 33 years. He was a life-time member of the Portuguese American Citizens Club and enjoyed spending time with his friends there and at the Seaconnet Sportsman’s Club. Bruce also enjoyed golfing with his friends, and always looked forward to taking his yearly sailboat trips to the British Virgin Islands, enjoying each day with friends to the fullest. He will be missed by many, and will always be remembered for his sense of humor and kind and generous nature. Bruce was always there to lend a helping hand when needed.

He is survived by his sister and caregiver Cindy Ann White of Portsmouth, who will miss him dearly. He was the nephew of Ruth Spaight of Barrington, RI, and Roland and Cynthia White of Swansea, MA and the former husband of Cindy Edwards of Portsmouth. He is also survived by his cousins and close friends.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 15, from 6:00 – 9:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
