Obituary: Ann C. Vieira, 95, Tailored War Uniforms

Ann C. “Aunt Ann” Vieira, 95, of Atria Aquidneck Place, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Reardon Drive, Middletown, RI, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Newport Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Anthony G. Vieira.

Born in Newport, RI on July 8, 1918, she was one of fourteen children born to the late Frank and Mary (Passrelli) DelRoss.

Aunt Ann was a seamstress who tailored military uniforms during the war. 
She later became an assembler at the former G.E. Monowatt Plant before retiring. She continued her sewing mostly for special occasions for her family. She was a longtime communicant of Jesus Saviour Church in Newport and enjoyed cooking, especially Italian food.

She is survived by four brothers, Vincent DelRoss of Middletown, RI, Stephen Del Ross and Francis (Pat) DelRoss, both of Florida, and Anthony DelRoss of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph DelRoss, Dominic DelRoss, Paul Del Ross, Louis DelRoss, Eugene DelRoss, Michael DelRoss, Barbara Cordeiro, Connie Vieira and Esther Oxx. 

Calling hours were held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.

Her funeral was held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 9 am from Memorial Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will take place at St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Jesus Saviour St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1 Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
