A third grade teacher at Forest Avenue School was killed after a hit-and-run accident in her Somerset neighborhood Monday night.
Kerri Harrison, 35, and her husband, Tracey, 42, were hit while they were walking around 9 p.m. Her husband was injured in the accident, said police.
“Mrs. Harrison was a dedicated teacher, mother and wife,” said Middletown Superintendent Rosemarie Kraeger. “She enriched our hearts, minds and souls daily.”
Kraeger said counselors are available at the schools this week for students and staff.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Harrison family," said the superintendent.
The driver, later identified as 36-year-old Adam Cooper, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting. Police said he may face additional charges.
