Today’s blog will focus on the topic of Reiki.

Reiki offers a safe, effective, relaxing therapy to bring about holistic healing. By the very nature of this treatment, the best explanation will come from the experience itself.

   Reiki healing is a natural therapy that gently balances life energies and brings forth health and well-being to the recipient. A Reiki therapy session is normally a full-body treatment procedure.  It can last for 30 minutes or more, depending upon the practitioner as well as the needs of the recipient.  The receiver remains fully clothed and lies on a massage table or sits in a comfortable chair.  The practitioner gently floats their hands above the receiver, and through hand movements, energy is channeled through the body's chakras, starting through the head and working its way through each of the seven chakras.

   This simple, non-invasive healing system works with the Higher Self of the receiver to promote health and well- being of the entire physical, emotional, and psychic body.  Reiki therapy can provide enormous help to people including those who are suffering from episodes of depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.  Reiki is a widely accepted alternative, holistic healing approach that can help improve the quality of a person's life. It is truly a system of attaining and promoting wholeness of mind, body and spirit.

One of the greatest health benefits Reiki offers is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural healing ability and improves and maintains health and balance. Reiki works in conjunction with the chakras through the use of hand-positions, which correspond to chakras in the body.

What is a chakra?  Chakras are our energy centers. They are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura.  There are seven Chakras in the human energy field, which are located along the central line of the body from the base of the spine to the top of the head.  Their function is to vitalize the physical body and to bring about the development of our self-consciousness. They are associated with our physical, mental, and emotional interaction.  

Stress, depression, and bodily injury or pain can cause one or more of your chakras to become clogged and out of balance, which will adversely affect the flow of energy.  If energy cannot flow openly and freely through all of your chakras, you can experience problems associated with that chakra.  Imagine the flow of energy through the body like a river.  When the river is free of obstacles, the water flows smoothly and steadily, nourishing life along its banks. So too, your organs and other bodily functions are nourished by energy, as well as the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of yourself.
