Hundreds gathered at the VFW Hall on Anthony Road on Saturday in a show of support for the Sweeney family.
The family lost everything in a massive fire that took their pets, possessions and their Summit Road home on Feb. 22.
And on Saturday, they said they were overwhelmed by the support from the community, which organized a "Lap of Love" fundraiser.
Eastbayri.com reported that more than 400 people came with cash and donations in hand, including a major chain store that donated a new set of appliances.
Kevin Sweeney said the family is overwhelmed and the "community has been unbelievable."
