New! Robots, Robots, ROBOTS! (8-12 years)

Robots are here! Join in that excitement by coming up with so many ways to imagine these unique machines. You will design fantastic robot costumes to wear and make awesome sculptures using recycled and handmade materials. Each camper will assemble a simple, mobile "tin can" robot.

Artist Studio (11-14 years)

10am-2pm
Explore many art mediums during a week-long intensive young artist' studio. Paint, draw, sculpt, print and so much more. Leave camp with multiple masterpieces.

August 11-15 Summer Camp Classes at the Newport Art Museum
Under the Sea (6-9 years)
Instructor: Lisa May Tobin

What do you know about dolphins? Do mermaids exist? They can in our camp@ you will create fantasy aquariums; make large, paper-mache starfish and shark pillows. Campers will shape clay to create fun"fish mobiles" and use shells and colorful tile to make mosaic wall pieces.

Introduction to Digital Photography (11-14 years)

You will discover professional shooting techniques and learn expert Photoshop tools in this immersive course will exploring historic Newport. Working with the instructor you will learn how to consistently produce superior-quality images.

New! Wet Paint Preparation Camp (ages 10+)
Instructor: Mandy Howe
10 am- 2 pm
Plunge into paint and create a piece to exhibit at the "WET PAINT" event on August 16-17. During camp, you will explore still life and landscape through the work of famous artists while you learn basic techniques in watercolor, acrylic, and tempera paint. Learn about color and composition and how to describe what you see around you and have fun mixing up wet paint!

August 18-22 Summer Camp Classes at the Newport Art Museum
Teepees & Totems (8-12 years)
Instructor: Lisa May Tobin
9am-3pm
The fascinating cultures of the indigenous tribes and people of the U.S. will inspire you with the art they created. West Coast Indians will have us creating totem poles, scrimshaw objects and button blankets. The week will culminate when you work with your fellow campers to build and decorate a teepee in the garden.
