Jamestown Arts Center (JAC) presents collagraph prints by award winning artist Peter Marcus in PETER MARCUS, NEW PRINTS: LARGE SCALE EXPERIMENTATION USING THE FACE AS THE SUBJECT, opening on Friday, October 18 from 6 – 8pm and running until November 15. A resident of Jamestown, RI, Marcus draws upon the inspiration of Baroque style and over 4 decades of printmaking knowledge to create a new body of work featuring the faces of family and friends. Acclaimed for his large-scale architectural prints, Marcus goes a layer deeper to explore the faces within those spaces.
Marcus' work is about process, scale, experimentation and the element of surprise. His mixed media paper prints on canvas are his largest to date at 6 ft. x 9 ft. in size. He reveals through his technique the beauty of the mark that printmaking has to offer.
