Emmanuel Church Lawn Fete

A Historic Fundraiser!
Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport, RI will hold a Summer Lawn Fete on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 9 AM to 3 PM. Emmanuel Church, under the leadership of Jackie Breen, is reviving one of the church's first fundraisers. On August 7 & 8, 1854, the Rev'd Darius Brewer and three women from Trinity Church started what became our annual "Lawn Fete" to raise funds to build our Upjohn Church. The first Lawn Fete was held at Ocean House at the intersection of Bellevue and Pelham, next to what was the Atlantic House (now the Elks Club). The two day event raised $3,257.87 in part from an admission charge, along with booths, fancy handmade items, lots of games, food, dancing, and even a fortune teller.

The Lawn Fete on July 12, 2014 will include a great raffle, local craft vendors, a plant table, lunch of burgers, hot dogs, chips, clam chowder, & lemonade, children's games, a dunk tank, old fashioned tea room, Potter League Animal Shelter booth, face painting & much more! Proceeds from this event will benefit outreach programs and provide funding for a wide range of assistance programs within our Aquidneck Island Community. Non-perishable food items will be collected & donated to Salvation Army, Newport, RI. Free parking is available in the church's parking lot on Dearborn Street. For more information, call Jordan Sleeper in the church office at 401-847-0675 or admin@emmanuelnewport.org
