Eleven Portsmouth Abbey Seniors Named Commended Students in 2013 National Merit Program

Eleven Portsmouth Abbey 12th-graders have been named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.  They are:

Kelsi Harper, of Berkley, MA
Daniel Jackson, of Portsmouth, RI
Kimberly Mehrtens, of Portsmouth, RI
Michelle Mehrtens, of Portsmouth, RI
O’Callahan Taylor, of New Canaan, CT
Erin Shaw, of Newport, RI
Julia Slupska, of San Diego, CA
Robert Sucsy, of Middletown, RI
Lauren Thompson, of Warner Robins, GA
Joseph Yates, of Portsmouth, RI

These students are among a group of about 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
