Our guest for the Friday edition of Portsmouth this Week was Sgt. Scott Travers of the Portsmouth Police Department, discussing traffic safety issues that affect everyone in Portsmouth who drives. Issues included texting while driving, driving under the influence (of alcohol as well as prescription and illicit drugs), as well as aggressive driving, defined as speeding plus two other traffic violations such as passing on the right and following too closely. Sgt. Travers described the telltale signs of a distracted driver (familiar to anyone who drives on our two main roads!) as well as the legal penalties for such offenses.
