Let Your Voice Be Heard on the Bridge Toll Issue
Portsmouth Business Director, Bill Clark, says that now is the time for Portsmouth residents to express their opinions on the Sakonnet Bridge toll issue. In a recent email he indicated that "The effort to eliminate tolls on the Sakonnet Bridge is receiving much attention in the current legislative session. Our local legislators have introduced bills that would create permanent alternatives to tolls on the Sakonnet Bridge. They are proposed in S-2335 and H-7432. A hearing before the Senate Finance Committee on S-2335 will be held at the Capital on Thursday, March 6, at 4:30.
Local senators and reps will explain the proposed alternatives at a special meeting on Wednesday, March 5, 7:00 PM at Scampi Restaurant, 657 Park Ave. If you can not attend, let our legislatures know of your support and concerns.
