What Do You Think About the Town's Response to Hurricane Irene?
Portsmouth hurricane response was inadequate, according to one resident. Do you agree?
Power back on at noon after 26 hours - thanks to National Grid. We lost a few branches and had to throw out some food but other than that got though this storm OK.
Hard to get any information from Portsmouth on what was going on. What ever happened to "reverse 911"?
No one home at the Town Hall and no contact point for information about what was going on in town. Nothing much on the town Web site and I found out about the "evacuation order" for Island Park and Common Fence Point via Portsmouth Patch on the Internet.

I wonder how all the people that lived there found out about it? When the power went down (about 10 a.m. on Sunday) we only had WPRO 630 AM to tell us what was going on. I didn't hear anyone from Portsmouth government calling in with updates on what was going on in town.
This was a wake up call. We need to have a much more aggressive plan for communicating with the public in Portsmouth. The town should have Facebook and Twitter feeds as well as reverse 911 to tell people what is going on. The town Web site should be more frequently updated and we should have telephone contact numbers for more information during such events. What do you think?
