This fine, late summer-like weather, gives us all good reason to get out of the house and enjoy some of the many events going on around our town. Several of these are being conducted in support of our 375th Anniversary Celebration and may be of interest. These include an Open House Celebration at the Green Grocers today, Saturday, in the afternoon as well as the following future events (detailed information can be found on the 375th website at www.portsmouthri.com ):

Join Garry Plunkett for a walk in Oakland Forest, Aquidneck Island’s old growth beech forest, preserved by the Aquidneck Land Trust in 2000. Garry has a strong background in native plant ecology and management, and created the original Management Plan for Oakland Forest & Meadow Preserve.

June 17: Portsmouth Historical Society Annual Meeting/Lecture

The Society is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Guest speaker will be Dr. Patrick Conley, RI State Historian Laureate. He will discuss "People, Places, Laws, and Lore of the Ocean State."  Refreshments will be served following the lecture.

June 18 - 20: Annual St. Barnabas Church Festival

Church Grounds
Tickets: Free

Friday events begin at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Abbey Rhode Band under the tent, Magician inside the hall, and a Midway ~ special discounts on tickets from 5-7 p.m. can be used all weekend.  Saturday activities include: Cindy Lane & the Double E, The "Red Suspenders", Talent Show in the Church Hall and the band "Avenue A" under the tent. Of course the Midway with ride discounts from 12-2 p.m. Sunday Mass at 10 a.m. followed by Soup in the Hall, the Midway, and of course our "Great Auction, and GREAT FOOD! June 19 - 24: Centenial Polo Tournament

Come celebrate Portsmouth’s 375th Birthday at a gala clam boil hosted and prepared by the Portsmouth Portuguese-American Citizens Club. Chowda, clam cakes, steamed Maine clams, potatoes, onions, sausages, hot dogs,Chourico, sweet corn, melted butter, hot clam broth. Child ticket includes a 6 oz. hamburger, chips, soda or juice. 

There will be a 50/50 raffle and face painting for children. Only 150 tickets available so get yours today!

June 27: Abbey Rhode Performance at Atria Aquidneck Place
