Should the Town Remove Tree Limbs and Piles of Debris Along Roads?

Bad decisions are now coming home to roost. Traditional DPW pickup of branch and debris piles has been denied by direction of the Town Council. Let's do something about it!

First, our town officials were all but invisible during the preparation for the storm, during the storm and after the storm, when we all had no power.

Did anyone try to call the Town Hall - no one home - hey, it's a weekend!

This council has nixed the "Code Red", reverse 911 system because they wanted to save a few more dollars to show how thrifty they are, so this valuable system, widely used in other communities to notify people of important news, wasn't available in Portsmouth.

Now they are denying the basic service of cleaning up piles of debris and branches along Portsmouth roads, dictating that everything has to be neatly bundled and taken to the Transfer Station, which, by the way, will not be open on Wednesday, as usual. Hurricane? What Hurricane?

Has anyone seen a council member walking around the neighborhoods, checking on people? In fact, has anyone seen a council member during this period? They are our elected officials - what are they thinking? Do you think that the branch and debris piles along the roads should be picked up by DPW? Let your voice be heard by commenting on this blog.
