The Newport County Coop Mentor Group to Sponsor School Trip to the Aviation Education Expo at TF Green Airport

Contact: Rogers High ,Middletown High, MET School,Portsmouth and Tiverton High School Coordinators or Advisors

The Newport County Coop Mentor Group is made up representatives from local businesses, Rogers High School, Middletown High School, Portsmouth High School, Tiverton High School and the MET School. The goal of the group is to connect high school students to businesses and careers. On September 27, 2012 the group is sponsoring a trip to the Aviation Education Expo at TF Green Airport. The Aviation Expo introduces students to the many career paths offered in the aviation industry.

A bus to the Aviation Expo will be provided by the Coop Mentor Group and interested parents and students should contact their schools for more information. The bus will leave Tiverton High School at 8am and proceed to Portsmouth, Middletown and Newport before arriving at the Expo at 10:30. No food will be allowed into the airport and students should plan to bring a bag lunch which will be eaten on the bus. Students will return to school at the end of the day. Parents should be aware of the possible late return of the bus after dismissal and plan accordingly.

Event Description:

The event is set up very similar to a career fair, with tables and interactive exhibits staffed by those in various aviation and aviation-related career fields. There will also be aircraft and airfield equipment on static display. The only time that we have programmed is the final half-hour of each time slot, during which a panel of aviation professionals will discuss their individual career paths and take questions from students.

That is still in development.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
