Viewfinder: Boaters Set Sail for Busy Season Despite High Fuel Prices

Local residents raise their sails for another season on the water with hopes of warmer weather and lower fuel prices.

Rhode Island offers more than 400 miles of coastline and soon the bays, rivers and ocean surrounding us will be dotted with pleasure boaters this summer.

Although fuel prices may be skyrocking, most say they are undetered, looking forward to the pleasures the summer boating season has to offer.

Three area Portsmouth marinas saw many boat owners this past weekend sanding, scrubing, painting and cleaning their water bound beauties, getting one day closer to chasing down the fish, harnessing the wind and living the dream of summer in Rhode Island.
