Portsmouth Business Shows Patriotism With Name Change

The former Irving gas station will now be known as "Patriot Petroleum."

The family-operated business known as Irving gas station is changing its name.

Irving will now be known as "Patriot Petroleum," according to owner Joe Giacobbi. The name is fitting with Portsmouth's high school football team, the Portsmouth Patriots.

New signs will appear soon at the gas station with the new name.

In August, Giacobbi took over management of the Irving gas station on East Main Road, a property belonging in his family for more than 50 years. The land once belonged to his grandmother, but his family built the current gas station four years ago.

The Portsmouth resident still hopes to lease some of the gas station's interior to other businesses in the near future. There is still space available, according to Giacobbi.

The Irving gas station is open seven days a week at 3302 East Main Road.
