Local Business Changes Name To 'Portsmouth Publick House'

Did you guess the correct business which is changing its name?

Portsmouth Custom House Coffee at Clock Tower Square is changing its name to the "Portsmouth Publick House" to better reflect its focus on food, according to owners.

“From the day the Portsmouth location opened in 2006, customers have been asking for more food offerings and longer hours,” says George Doumaney, co-owner of the business. “We finally decided to go with the flow and become a full-service restaurant with a new name. Nothing else will change–same owners and same great coffee roasted daily at Custom House Coffee in Middletown.”

The Portsmouth Publick House will keep the same decor, but offer a new, expanded menu.

The original Middletown Custom House Coffee location will stay the same, keeping its focus on coffee. The Middletown store’s food offerings will
continue to be mostly pre-prepared, quick service fare.

“Different names will mean customers won’t have the same expectations for both stores-- no disappointment when they can’t get the exact same menu item at both locations,” says owner and founder of Custom House Coffee, Robert Mastin.

The new Portsmouth Publick House will be open until 10 p.m. every night, serving full breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Portsmouth Publick House also offers alcoholic beverages, an addition approved by the town earlier this year.
