Former Portsmouth Resident Creates, Stars in New Web Series

Former Portsmouth resident Sarah McLean creates a new softball Web series called "3 Strikes."

Former Portsmouth resident Sarah McLean has created a comedy web series focused on the world of high school softball.

The series "3 Strikes" is the story of a professional softball player who, after being suspended from her team for anger issues, is forced to coach at her old high school.

Beginning Oct. 1, McLean will be launching a fundraising campaign, via the crowd funding site Indiegogo.com, to finance the series. Production has already begun on season 1, which will be comprised of 9 episodes, and the campaign will help cover editing, marketing and promotion costs.

Season 1 is slated to be released in Spring 2014 to coincide with the start of baseball and softball season.

"There's not a softball player alive who hasn't seen 'A League of Their Own,' more than once, and '3 Strikes' embodies the fun and playfulness of it," said McLean, who will also star in the series. "There's also a bit of 'Bad News Bears' thrown in for good measure."

McLean is a former high school and college softball player and understands the sport's dynamic.

"It's smart, it's funny and it's truthful. I grew up playing softball; it's so great to see those stories being told," said series regular and Barrington native Debbie Friedman.

The official website (www.3strikestheseries.com) will stream all episodes and will be the go-to place for behind-the-scenes photos and video from the production, as well as the home for the fundraising campaign.
