STORM CENTER: Portsmouth Snowstorm Closings, Updates

Here's the latest forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Snow Projections Bumped Up Again

The next winter storm is expected to start on Tuesday afternoon and last through Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. The so-called “jackpot” area is expected to span from the Tiverton-Little Compton area through Cape Cod, but heavy snow with accumulations of 4-8 inches are possible throughout much of the state, especially along the south coast and islands. Some weather maps predict as much as 10 inches in some areas.

School Cancelations 


Portsmouth schools are closed Wednesday. 
Aquidneck Island Christian Academy is closed Wednesday. 
All Saints Academy is closed Wednesday. 
St Philomena School: No PM Daycare; No PM Activities

Other Closings 

Portsmouth Senior Center: Closed Tomorrow; No Elderly Meals
East Coast Performing Arts Center: Closed This Evening
The Portsmouth Free Public Library will close Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Prudence Ferry

The Prudence Island Ferry will not run the 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. ferry Wednesday due to the storm. The 10 a.m. ferry will run. 

Parking Bans

Portsmouth has issued a parking ban until further notice. 

The town of Middletown has issued a parking ban for tomorrow afternoon. No other bans at this time.
