Birders! Free Film Screening Friday is For the Birds

Free, family friendly screening of Birders! The Central Park Effect on Friday April 26 is a collaboration between the Aquidneck Land Trust, The Pennfield School, Salve Regina, newportFILM and others.

Ever dream of flying like a bird?

Thanks to a joint effort by the Aquidneck Land Trust, Salve Regina University, newportFILM and the Norman Bird Sanctuary, you'll have a chance to get pretty close. Or at least find new ways to fuel your imagination and marvel at the array of birds that live in urban places.

On Friday, April 25, the Pennsfield School and the ALT will present Birders! The Central Park Effect.

In a release, ALT member said the event shouldn't be missed:

Take a virtual trip into the trees of Central Park. Featuring spectacular wildlife footage of many bird species and capturing the changing seasons, the film reveals that Central Park acts as a magnet for the millions of birds migrating along the Eastern Seaboard twice every year (Central Park Effect).

The film highlights the extraordinary array of wild birds that grace Manhattan’s celebrated patch of green and the equally colorful, full-of-attitude New Yorkers who schedule their lives around the rhythms of migration. A short panel discussion by local birders about Aquidneck Island’s own birding mecca will follow the film. This is a family-friendly event and children are welcome! Please RSVP to Cindy Hallowell at The Pennfield School (401) 849-4646.
