Aquidneck Island Indian Council to Host Pow-Wow Next Weekend

Celebrate Portsmouth's 375th anniversary and get back to the roots of Aquidneck Island's original settlers with a traditional pow-wow this weekend at the Glen Recreational Area and 4H Fair Groud.


Celebrate Portsmouth's 375th anniversary and discover the culture of the Native Americans who lived on Aquidneck Island before the settlers with a traditional pow-wow.

On Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28  the Aquidneck Island Indian Council will host a pow-wow at the Glen Recreational Area 4H Fair Grounds on Glen Road from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Native American cultural items and other wares will be displayed for sale as well as refreshments sold. Experience Native American culture with a performances by The Soaring Eagle Singers, Eagle Sings, Eastern Medicine and invited drums. Drumming, Dancing, Flute music, Storytelling and more wil fill the fair grounds. Admission to the event is free an open to all, although donations are accepted.
