BankNewport Announces Employee Community Volunteer Beneficiaries

BankNewport’s Community Volunteer Program was designed to provide Bank employees with opportunities to help bring positive change to local communities through volunteerism.  In 2012, 60 Bank employees volunteered over 275 hours in support of the communities where they all live, work and play.  

BankNewport employees who volunteer six hours or more during the calendar year at designated outreach events are eligible to be included in a special raffle, selecting three employees annually, to receive a $250 award payable to the non-profit organization of their choice on behalf of the Bank. 

BankNewport President and CEO, Sandra J. Pattie recently announced the raffle winners of the Community Volunteer Program for 2012, each presenting their $250 award to the following beneficiaries:

BankNewport Assistant Vice President and Auditor, Isabel Tigano selected the One Fund Boston as her award beneficiary. The Fund was created after the Boston Marathon to provide financial assistance directly to the victims and their families affected by the bombings. The One Fund Boston has raised over $61 million to date.  Isabel is a resident of East Taunton, Massachusetts.

BankNewport Assistant Vice President, Servicing Operations, Joann Ferris selected the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center as her award beneficiary, whose mission is to empower individuals and families in Newport County to improve their quality of life as they seek nutritional, educational, and social supports and economic opportunity.  Joann is a resident of Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

BankNewport Newport Branch Teller, Barbara Sousa’s love for animals inspired her to donate her award to the Potter League for Animals, a non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of animals and enrich the human experience, by promoting the humane treatment of all animals and providing shelter and care for lost or unwanted companion animals.  Barbara is a resident of Bristol, Rhode Island.

In addition to the Community Volunteer Program, Bank employees regularly participate in a “Dress Casual for a Cause” program, wherein employees extend donations for the opportunity to dress casual on designated Fridays.  Bank employees recently collected donations totaling $1,482 for the American Red Cross in support of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, as well as $300 to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in support of their Feed-a-Friend Food Pantry.
