Located in the Anne Hutchinson building, the Portsmouth Multi Purpose Senior Center is not your typical senior center. It acts as a community gathering place where older residents of Newport County may recieve support and information about services, as well as become involved in senior activities. The center also features a thrift store, which sells clothing and domestic items.

As a single senior, and a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center, I was very excited to learn that the center was offering ballroom dancing several years ago. I thought this would be a great opportunity to meet new friends, socialize, etc. The night of the first class, I arrived and spoke to the instructor. She informed me that I would not be able to participate in the class because I did not have a "partner." What a shame! Isn't the purpose of a senior center to allow people to interact, socialize? I walked out of there feeling like an outcast. The very next day, I withdrew my membership to the center and haven't been back since.

I may be judging this most recent class harshly, for it may be under a different instructor, but it left such a sour taste in my mouth, that I have no interest in trying it again.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by Fedex. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, http://BuzzSave.com
