DESCRIPTION:The USS Carter Hall is in Bristol for the 4th of July celebra
 tions and is open for visitors from 1 to 5 pm\, July 3-5.&nbsp\;\nThe US
 S Carter Hall is a 610-foot dock landing ship home ported at Naval  Amph
 ibious Base\, Little Creek\, VA.&nbsp\; She is commanded by CCR Damon K.
   Amaral\, a native of Coventry\, RI.\nVisitors should expect a 30-40 mi
 nute shuttle boat ride from the Coast Guard Station at the foot of Const
 itution Street in Bristol\, out to the ship at anchor.&nbsp\; The first 
 boats will leave at 12:30 pm each day and then every half hour. There is
  limited street parking in the area.\nHere are some other things to note
 : Children must be accompanied by parents and strict security is in plac
 e\; bags will be searched and a photo ID is necessary.&nbsp\; The tour i
 ncludes climbing several stairways on the ship.&nbsp\; Strollers cannot 
 be pushed on the ship and there are no handicapped access points. Comort
 able walking shoes are advised.
