Save the date for the Aquidneck Land Trust's 10th Annual Golf Tournament to be held Monday, July 9, 2012 at Newport National Golf Club. 

An ALT-conserved property, Newport National is the number one rated slope and course in Rhode Island and is a true championship venue. This exciting golf event will feature a day of golf with a 12:30pm shotgun start, followed by cocktails and awards.  Proceeds from this tournament are dedicated to help the Aquidneck Land Trust sustain its land conservation momentum and preserve our Island's most threatened and important open spaces.

Continuing the tradition started in 2008, ALT's 10th Annual Golf Tournament will include two foursomes of highly ranked youth golfers from Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth and Tiverton high schools. These talented local athletes will compete for the Aquidneck Land Trust High School Championship Cup, which will reside in the winner's school until next year's golf tournament.  The cup is currently at Portsmouth High School, won last year by Matt Occhi.

ALT's time-sensitive mission is to conserve Aquidneck Island's open spaces and natural character for the lasting benefit of our community.  The organization has conserved 2,386.50 acres on 66 properties on Aquidneck Island since 1990.  ALT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and the first land trust in Rhode Island to have received national accreditation.  For more information, visit www.AquidneckLandTrust.org.
