The RI Senate has scheduled a hearing on the proposed toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge.
We ask all who oppose the toll, especially business owners, to attend the hearing at the State Capitol this coming Wednesday, February 13th at 4pm at Room 313.
To all who oppose the proposed toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge: the RI Senate has scheduled a hearing to consider Senator Felag’s bill, Senate Bill 20, which asks to repeal Article 20 of last years’ budget and Senate Bill 242 submitted by Senator DiPalma offering very intelligent and reasonable alternatives for bridge maintenance plans.
It is imperative that we attend in numbers and in force to communicate to the legislators why the toll would be economically devastating to the area economy, businesses, families and individuals.
Please do all that you can to attend and testify to the Senate Finance Committee.

WE REALLY HAVE A CHANCE TO STOP THE TOLL ON THE SAKONNET RIVER BRIDGE!
We respectfully ask all of you to attend Wednesday night at the State Capitol, Room 313 at 4 pm. We also respectfully ask you pass this information to all of your friends and contacts in the East Bay area.
We have come a long way to stop the toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge and we have a chance on Wenesday night.
Two bills will be heard. Senate Bill 20 which repeals last years' budget Article 20.
And Senate Bill 242 recently written by the East Bay Senators that offers bold and innovative alternatives for a bridge maintenance plan and funding.
Here is a link to the hearing announcement and the two bills. http://status.rilin.state.ri.us/documents/agenda-9022.pdf
Again, we implore you to attend Wednesday night and urge everyone else opposed to the toll to attend.
Thank you very much.

The testimony went well. The Senate Finance Committee has a good picture of why a toll would be economically disastrous to the area. Senate Bill 242 is a bold, fresh, innovative approach to solving a problem and addressing a number of key issues. The PBA and the other anti-toll groups will update area residents as information becomes available. The testimony will be on Channel 15 - Capitol TV soon.
