SENATE HEARING ON THE PROPOSED SAKONNET TOLL

The RI Senate has scheduled a hearing on the proposed toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge.

We ask all who oppose the toll, especially business owners, to attend the hearing at the State Capitol this coming Wednesday, February 13th at 4pm at Room 313.

To all who oppose the proposed toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge:  the RI Senate has scheduled a hearing to consider Senator Felag’s bill, Senate Bill 20, which asks to repeal Article 20 of last years’ budget and Senate Bill 242 submitted by Senator DiPalma offering very intelligent and reasonable alternatives for bridge maintenance plans and funding

It is imperative that we attend in numbers and in force to communicate to the legislators why the toll would be economically devastating to the area economy, businesses, families and individuals.

Please do all that you can to attend and testify to the Senate Finance Committee.

The testimony went well. The Senate Finance Committee has a good picture of why a toll would be economically disastrous to the area. Senate Bill 242 is a bold, fresh, innovative approach to solving a problem and addressing a number of key issues. The PBA and the other anti-toll groups will update area residents as information becomes available. The testimony will be on Channel 15 - Capitol TV soon.
