Outside The Box Gifts!

Saturday, is Small Business Saturday. This is where the community can show its support to the local businesses here in Portsmouth. The economy has hit us all hard and especially the "little guy",( just look at all the empty retail spaces at the Portsmouth Plaza and along East Main Road), and it isn't getting any easier. We're all fighting for those very few discretionary dollars that consumers have available. This economy has taught us all how to be more creative with our spending, so why not with our gift giving? Here are a few out of the box ideas that will be welcomed gifts and a way to support our local economy. I love Win Win!

For Moms how about a gift certificate to a local massage therapist (perfect for relieving holiday stress). Gift certificates or products from their favorite hairdresser, nail or tanning salon. Flowers or an arrangement from a local florist.

Dads; could also use a massage, or a gift certificate from a local auto mechanic for an oil change, or have his car detailed.

Teens; a gift certificate from a local gas station for gas, or how about a gift certificate for a Limo rental for a prom?

Kids; music, dance or martial art lessons, gifts that keep on giving and could change their lives forever!

More out of the box ideas, a cord of wood, gift certificate for oil, auto parts, local electronics, local small hardware, or gift boutiques, restaurants... The ideas are endless and so will be the gratitude of the local business person when you support them!

Hope to see you IN TOWN ON SATURDAY!

We had a great time shopping at Domina's Agway for Small Business Saturday! Making bird feeders, having pop-corn and apple cider were some of the highlights. We were able to get all sorts of holiday cheer and gifts for every animal in the house (and some for outside too!).
