In an e-mail to supporters this morning, the PHS Music Boosters announced a campaign to raise funds for the PHS band's trip to DC to march in the Inauguration Parade on January 21. I just made a donation, and hope you'll consider it too. Here's their e-mail:

We are going back to DC!

Dear Friend:

We are extremely proud of our selection to represent Rhode Island in the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, DC on Monday, January 21, 2013. Upon receipt of the invitation last week, the Music Department here at PHS and the PHS Music Boosters began working on plans to make this honor, and once-in-a-lifetime experience, a reality for the 165 members of our marching band, color guard and dance team. In order to keep the cost of participation manageable for us and our families, the Boosters have set a goal of raising $30,000 to help offset transportation, lodging, meals and other incidental expenses.

In order to meet this goal, we are asking for sponsorships and donations from local businesses and individuals such as you. With just under three weeks before we depart, and with an estimated per student cost of $250, we are asking for monetary donations to support the trip as well as donations of hand warmers, bottled water, packaged protein bars and similar food items. If you wish to donate supplies for the trip please contact us and we will make arrangements to receive your items.
