Cox Email Outage is Frustrating!

If you use Cox for your primary email server you know by now that their system has been down for at least 48 hours, with no real explanation offered by the company as to what has happened. And its not just RI - several other states throughout the country are also involved in this outage.

I understand that it may be difficult for Cox to find and fix this problem, but what I'm kind of amazed at is the almost total lack of any mainstream media reporting on this outage, which affects literally millions of people.

In my case, I cannot receive any emails to my primary email address at cox.net. Inconvenient, but not life-threatening. If I were waiting for the result of a critical lab test or a response to a business proposal, I'd be very frustrated at this point. The periodic but inane "updates" provided by Cox on their support forum say nothing about what the problem is and when it will be fixed. Perhaps Cox's PR staff is off for the weekend?

I just got an "apology" from Cox and I was amazed that they blamed it on their storage vendor and did not give us any "credits". If you receive an email from them ask them for a full month credit on Internet service. They will be getting credit from the "storage vendor" or other vendors for this outage that the need to pass on to their true customers. Don't expect them to respond - if they don't forward your response to COX corporate and the FCC

If you want to send an email to the FCC use FCCInfo@fcc.gov. At least they respond in an automated fashion to the email. I will update this to other emails and sites you can complain to. - Bob Wallace
