You Know It's Cold Out When ...

How do you judge when it's cold out or when it's just New England typical weather?

It's definitely cold out this week with winter reminding us we live in New England. What made you shiver this morning? Taking the dogs out? Standing at the bus stop? One reader said "you know it's cold out when the wet clothes in the dryer are frozen."

Finish this sentence for us in the comments: You know it's cold out when ...

You kid's hair is damp on the way to school from the morning shower, and once outside you can pick her hair up like an icicle and it sticks straight out!

When my small dog with the short paws goes out in the snow to pee and comes in and gives me the sad look that he could not because his wee wee is froze. Then he looks at you with that look of, do you think I can pee ice cubes and he hopes you get a kidney stone so you can feel what that’s like lol.

Dogs are so sarcastic when their wee wee is froze lol.

When the waters of The Cove start to get "oily", moving only reluctantly in the wind, waiting for the first lull to start getting slushy, then the slush gathering into little pancakes that even the wind can't move much, and the glittery surface just heaves slowly with the tide, and then... freeze-up. And stillness. (When it's good and solid the coyotes start their parade out to Spectacle Island, where the rodent population has been growing predator-free since the last ice-up. Yummy.)
