I just wrote a somewhat lengthy inquiry about Oakland Farms. Tried to submit it.. Needed retrieved password resulting in chg of password .... so how can I learn if my question for You Ask ...Patch Answers got through?

Thanks Sandy...hope this goes through to you for I would love an answer.
When Oakland Farms was built, why would the developer not have been required to put the entrance road at the light at Sandy Point? Anyone traveling north on East Main who needs to make a left into the housing area or anyone exiting (especially to go north) onto East Main, really are put in a dangerous traffic situation. I have heard that St. Mary's Church is the owner of that property at the light, but surely just some type of service road running parallel to East Main could have been worked into the developer's Oakland Farms property design.

What is going on with the West Main Road construction? Looks like it begins where 24S empties onto 114S. What are the specifics? Will they close one lane, as they did with the traffic heading North a few months ago? And about how long will it last?

According to RIDOT this process will continue until the end of August.
The center strip will be dug up for a new fiber optics line to control the traffic signals. The curbing and catch basins on the West side will be removed, rebuilt & replaced.
Repaving the road is the final work. Lane closures southbound will happen regularly.

Why does the "dump" charge $125 per vehicle and not by household. You should get a sticker for every car registered under the address that you pay taxes on

It doesn't. $125 for first vehicle. $10 for additional stickers. You should learn to read.

Actually the sticker cost for 2013 is $130 for the first vehicle.

This is a great little service. Would anyone be able to tell me why the traffic signals on E and W Main Roads operate their green arrows inconsistently? On some signals the green arrow operates all the time, on other streets (say, Union and E Main) the arrow is on occasionally, and still others it seems to never operate.

On most lights there is a sensor in the road that determines if there is a car waiting to turn left. If the car does not move through the first cycle of green the arrow will light on the second cycle to allow the car to make a left turn.

Yes, Robert E. That is the case with E Main and Valley, but I am talking about those signals that have the ability to show a green arrow but don't, no matter how many cycles of the light you may wait for.

The real answer is because the traffic signals in RI are antiquated and not maintained properly. East and West Main Roads were designed to handle a fraction of today's traffic. In most states the roads would be widened and modernized. That is not possible in RI, being a one party government with no checks and balances and the most generous social programs in the U.S.

I'm not inclined to think that's it. I think the state (because these are state roads) just hasn't been told to keep the arrows on, and keep them on all the time.

I've heard a dance studio is going in at E.Main/Potomac...along with a couple of store fronts yet to be filled.
