Anne Pegg, 27, a schoolteacher from Acushnet, MA, is the featured performer in today’s line-up. The featured performer is given an opportunity to showcase more of their talent, as opposed to the 3-limit song cap for other performers. Mr. Fish passes the “fishbowl” around after their gig, hoping for donations from the crowd to help support the struggling musicians. Jokingly, Pegg announces to the crowd, “I am a school teacher, so I don’t make a lot of money…but don’t forget, I am responsible for the future generation!”

Custom House Coffee shows their support for local singers and songwriters every Sunday afternoon with an Open Mic session presented by host Gary Fish.

This week’s line-up not only showcased the superior talent we have amongst us, but the palpable camaraderie generated between fellow artists.

From a retired Portsmouth High School music teacher to a nine-year-old protégée, the feeling in the room was one of respect, joy and warmth as the music played on.

As one of the "regulars" at Custom House Coffee on Sundays, I have to say that this is one of the best open mics in the area. Gary's enthusiasm, professionalism, and support of all musicians is greatly appreciated. He encourages beginners, welcomes a wide range of musical styles, and provides an enjoyable atmosphere where musicians are appreciated and fun is had by all. The audience is great and I always look forward to playing there. Anne Marie Gazdik
