Suspects Wanted in Connection with May Larceny at Clement's Market

A man and woman suspecting of robbing Clement's Market in May make Rhode Island's Most Wanted.

Police are seeking help from the public in identifying two suspects, who are wanted in connection with a May robbery at Clement's Market.

The man and woman, who were featured Monday on Rhode Island's Most Wanted, are suspected of committing larceny at the store on May 3.

According to Rhode Island's Most Wanted, the woman allegedly took an item off of the market's shelf and attempted to return it to the store for a cash refund. The refund was denied and the woman placed the item into her pocket and left the store, according to the Web site.

The woman was accompanied by a white male. Both suspects apparently left the area on a RIPTA bus.

Both suspects are described as having a medium build. The female has a medium complexion.

Anyone with information about the identity of these two people are asked to contact Detective Sgt. Anthony Cambrola of the Portsmouth Police Department at (401) 643-0116.

Ridiculous that incidents like this makes the news here. Is there nothing else of greater importance going on in this town? I'll answer that myself and say no.

And the reporting of simple misdemeanor arrests each and everyday before a trial has even taken place is almost criminal. This ruins reputations and sometimes careers before the whole truth has even come out. Felonies are one thing but misdemeanors; Come on! This is just a way for the persons in charge to keep selling their product because nosey people always want to know if someone they know got into trouble overnight.

This town needs some gangs so reporters and editors can place stories of more significance into their news feeds thereby continuing to sell their product without watering us down with petty theft issues such as this and arrests of persons for simple misdemeanor issues.

I think we should be grateful that we are not a town or community that has to open publications everyday to read about 2 homicides occurring overnight or a teen being raped or a church arson. What is news to one may not be of interest to another. It may no have an impact on one's life, but it may on another's. This story involves a small business, a family owned business in OUR community, so it is news, local news. Editors and journalists alike are doing their jobs. They are keeping the community informed. Can every single resident and reader be accommodated and satisfied at every moment in every news event that is reported? Absolutely not. But I for one would rather read this news over gangs, drive-by's and innocent people being killed in the cross-fire from illegal arms in our community. Just my 2 cents.

It is a good thing that we are not in a town with a lot of serious crime issues. My reference to gangs was a purposeful exaggration in which to attempt to get a point across.

I have lived in small towns, large towns, and towns of size in between and I have yet to see anyone "ACCUSED" (key word) of petty-theft issues making the states "Most Wanted List." This is laughable in my opinion and here is why.

While it is great that the area does not have serious issues with crime, this creates another issue. The media has nothing else to report on so they report in their papers, and whatever other media they may use, simple misdemeanor issues involving people who have not been to trial yet.

Why do I need to know if "John Doe" was pulled over and arressted for driving with a suspended license??? Why do I need to know that "whoever" was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct??? Why do I need to know if someone was arrested for urinating in public??? With all these being misdemeanor issues, the answer is that I, nor do the community, need to know this information......Let me rephrase that; I think is ok that the community look for this information and find it if they are ACTIVELY looking for this type of info on a person but only once a trial has taken place. But for it to be publicized in the media before a trial is absurd in my opinion. This ruins reputations and sometimes careers before the whole truth has come out.
