Submerged Vehicle Found In Weaver's Cove

Police are investigating how a stolen vehicle ended up in Weaver's Cove.

Police are now investigating how a vehicle stolen out of Newport ended up submerged in Weaver's Cove this weekend.

A 2007 Toyota Camry was found submerged Sunday at 12:30 a.m. in the water near the Weaver's Cove boat ramp, which is located off Burma Road.

No one was found inside the vehicle. Divers from the Portsmouth Fire Department were called to the scene.

"There was no evidence of victims inside the vehicle," said Portsmouth police Lt. Brian Peters.

A child seat was located inside the Camry, which was towed out of the water. The vehicle was reportedly stolen in the City of Newport.

The incident remains under investigation by the Newport Police Department.
