State Trooper Penalized for Giving Report on Governor's Son's Party

A member of the State Police is being punished after giving a talk show a police report.

A state trooper is being penalized after allegedly giving a police report to radio talk show WPRO, reports The Providence Journal on Friday.

According to The Journal, the report was about a graduation party allegedly hosted by the governor's son, Caleb Chafee. The identity of the state trooper being disciplined was not released.

State Police are investigating an incident in which a "highly intoxicated" 18-year-old woman was found walking along Route 102 in Exeter on May 28 after apparently leaving a party.

Chafee, son of Gov. Lincoln Chafee, allegedly hosted the party and told the girl not to call 911 until she was away from the property, according to the report.

Caleb Chafee, 18, graduated from the Portsmouth Abbey School on May 27.

The Governor should hang his head in shame. The Trooper should get a commendation .

In other words...we tried like _____ to keep this under wraps but a trooper knew the public needed to know this information. I agree the trooper should be commended!

A police report is public information the Governor should be charged for interfearing with a police officer.

What type of discipline was issued to the Trooper? In what world can the Governor interfere with an on-going investigation? Can the Governor be cited for intering with this investigation in any way? Wouldn't that be cool?

How can the Governor (Gump) interfere with a trooper period. Sounds like obstruction to me at the very least. Gump needs a reality check, and maybe a last place finish in the next election will bring him back to it. Unfortunately, in the meantime we're stuck with this "tax and spend" idiot!!!!
