Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Portsmouth
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Newport and Bristol Counties.
In case you're stuck indoors or haven't looked outside in awhile, it's looking pretty nasty out there as severe thunderstorms head this way.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for both Newport and Bristol Counties, including Prudence Island.
At 3:16 p.m., the NWS doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter-size hail. The storms could produce winds with speeds over 60 mph.
The storms are moving east at 25 mph.
A flash-flood warning has also been issued for other parts of the state, including Kent and Providence Counties, according to The Providence Journal. Northern areas of the state have also reported power outages, as well as hail.
