Republican School Committee Candidate Leaves Race
A candidate for Portsmouth School Committee will not appear on the November ballot after leaving the race.
At least one candidate for Portsmouth School Commitee has left the race quietly.
Republican candidate Aurelio Lucci dropped out of the race early in the season and will not appear on the November ballots, according to Registrar Madeleine Pencak.
The reason behind the departure is unknown.
This departure, however, leaves the Democrats with a major advantage for one of the three seats.
Three seats, excluding the unexpired term, are up for grabs this year on the school committee.
The winners of the Democratic Primary — Emily Copeland, Terri-Denise Cortvriend and Andrew Kelly — will now appear on the ballot in November, along with Republican Norbert J. Rattay.
