A Connecticut school's decision to ban a student from the prom has resulted in an outpouring of media attention and Facebook support.
Shelton Patch reported on the story of Shelton High School student James Tate, who was punished after he went out of his way to ask a girl to his senior prom. According to Shelton Patch, Tate and two friends used a ladder, tape and a handful of cardboard letter cutouts and placed a message on the outside wall of the school’s main entrance on May 6.
The message was a single question: “Sonali Rodrigues, will you go to prom with me?”

The school suspended Tate and his friends for one day. Tate is also now banned from attending the dance altogether since school policy says anyone suspended after April 1 cannot attend prom.
Since then, a Facebook page entitled “Let James Tate Go to the Prom” has been created. The site gained more than 1,000 supporters in a couple of hours.

As long has he cleaned everything up . What's the harm. I'm glad to see the school has changed their minds.

They teach creativity in school. They teach you to be a unique person and march to the beat of a different drum. It was very thoughtful and it wasn't permanent, I fail to see what the harm was?
