Portsmouth To Appoint New School Finance Director Tonight

The Portsmouth School Committee will meet tonight at 5:45 at the Portsmouth High School library.

The Portsmouth School Committee is expected to appoint a new interim director of finance and administration for the district, according to a meeting agenda on the school department's Web site.

Mark Dunham, the previous director of finance and administration, announced his resignation in June. His resignation was effective on July 13.

On July 18, the school committee authorized the school superintendent to recommend candidates for the position. Superintendent Lynn Krizic is expected to bring forth recommendations at tonight's meeting.

The names of any candidates are not being released prior to the meeting, according to a spokesperson for the district.

The special meeting will be held at 5:45 p.m. in the library at Portsmouth High School. An executive session will be held prior to the meeting at 5:30.

Please note the time of this meeting is earlier than a regular meeting. This is the only agenda item for the meeting.

The new director of finance and administration will be faced with an immediate lack of revenue from the wind turbine catastrophe. The first year it put money into the town coffers but now looks to be a financial fiasco.

I had been an ardent supporter of wind turbines in the early days now I have a dissatisfaction with wind power generally .

The new director will have to work around the fantasy of an eight year payback on the wind turbine unless they offer a twenty year warranty
