Portsmouth Superintendent Fails to Register Vehicle in RI

Despite the state law requiring registration after 30 days, Portsmouth's superintendent is still driving around with Illinois license plates, according to an investigative report.

Despite a state law requiring drivers to register their vehicle within 30 days of moving to the Ocean State, one school superintendent has failed to comply.

Portsmouth Superintendent of Schools Lynn Krizic, who became superintendent in summer 2011, is still driving her 2003 Saab Turbo with Illinois license plates, according to an investigation by The Hummel Report

Krizic, a Little Compton resident, told Jim Hummel she failed to change the license plates and register her vehicle despite living in Rhode Island for more than 18 months.

Krizic's former town of residence, Elmhurst, IL, does not charge property taxes on vehicles, according to the report.

We have a neighbor in c.f.p. who has lived here for approx, 10 years. Who still has Texas plates on a car, a truck, and another car in the garage. But is one of the first to rat on anyone in the neighborhood on any little thing.

There yyou have it folks-Joe Sousa, UNSUCCESSFUL candidate for Tiverton Town Council applauding someone who is breaking the law. But then again, what do you expect from a guy who smuggles in un-taxed cigarettes from out of state and sells them at his Tiverton social club?

Thanks again for bragging about breaking the law Joe. The Rhode Island State Police and the ATF should be paying you a visit very soon.

out appointed officials, in leadership positions, should be setting an example for others, especially our students who will be reading this as well, what a shame and a poor example

That is par for the course for Joe Sousa. This troll wanted to be elected to help run the town and has an extensive history with the local officers. The he comes on here and uses foul language and insults but get angry when treated to the same. Dang hypocrite.

The poor example is a state that can't fix it's problems and has to find new ways to tax people year after year. Moronic isn't it?

Joe are you saying residents don't have to follow the law? I am curious as to what your take would be if an appointed official in Tiverton had done the same thing? In fact, I am sure you along with your TCC buddies would be baying at the moon in protest.

Why single her out? Sure she has a job in the public eye....but there are lots of people who get away with this. Why doesn't Jim Hummel spend a couple days catching a bunch of them off guard? Frankly I'm more concerned about the kind of job she does as a superintendent than I am about her car registration.

BUT, if she is cheating the state on her car registration, she is most likely sloppy and cheating in other areas too...is that what the Portsmouth School Dept needs??

Call me Maybe - but it better be DR Maybe.

This is the reason she has her plates - Narcissism? - "She came with a doctorate degree from the University of Illinois - and a vanity plate from the state of Illinois trumpeting that accomplishment." then in the interview this is the best part - Krizic: ``Certainly a call to my office to say we'd like to sit down with you Dr. Krizic and talk to about a few issues. That's what I would have expected.'' Niiiicceee EGO.

Portsmouth has a history of being unkind to local education. She probably wants to wait and see if she can create progress before going "all-in" with her vehicle registration. That doesn't make it right, but it makes sense.

Provide a 10 day tag just like when your car is not inspected and begin daily fines after that for each day that the law is not followed. There is no excuse for this - not liking the fact that RI taxes automobiles is irrelevent.

I had to renew my MD registration 2 weeks before moving to RI. It was valid for 2 years. Somehow, when I moved here 18 months ago, I managed to register my car in RI within 30 days, sacrificing the expense of my MD registration. And, yes, we will likely only live here another 18 months. It's what you do to comply with state laws.

Please also note that I don't think you can pass RI Inspection without a valid registration/license. I think we should all strive to set examples and not excuse this type of behavior of anyone in the State - let alone a public servant paid by tax dollars from some RI state or town pot some where. She was warned publicly apparently as well - I agree this just shows a potential pattern of behavior. Anyone research her background and why she wasn't renewed in IL? Insightful...

Who cares. We should be talking about why the citizens of RI continue to re-elect the same clowns to the most disfunctional and corrupt general assembly in the nation.

To ME,
The pot is calling the kettle black. You seem to be following The Krizic Drama too so shut up. You are so full of integrity, huh!

Why should Krizic, I mean Dr. Krizic, follow the same rules as everbody else. Isn't she above all of us? Isn't she better than all of us? Don't we all aspire to be like her? Don't the investigative reporters know that they should investigate and report according to the Krizic procedures?

Of course her husband travels extensively. Who can blame him. He still lives in Elmhurst, Illinois.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Elmhurst, Illinois, it is an educated community with hard working people. The teachers are appreciated and paid well as are the administrators. The 145,000. salary and 8,000. expense account from Portsmouth is an insult to Krizic, I mean, Dr. Krizic. She made well over 200,000. in Elmhurst. The Portsmouth Board should have considered this before hiring her. Is it possible to truly commit after accepting a huge pay cut?

Jean Schlesinger...way to go!!!!

...and one more thing. The city officials who are not enforcing the laws should be replaced. The wait- and- see -attitude is unacceptable when so many cities are trying to provide services with limited budgets. Will Krizic and all of the others be charged retroactive/ back fees? If not, why not?

Maybe this will cause the school board to look more closely at the good Dr. She doesn't have a clue about school funding. I am very concerned about her ability to run our school department. Poor example for all.

A simple web search before hiring her would have been valuable. Has anyone read parting comments from The Elmhurst Patch? Hindsight is 20/20.

Every leader will have detracters. Some people gain a sense of self importance by diminishing others. This is a minor issue.

Diminishing others is not a minor issue. Gaining a sense of self importance by diminishing others is not ok for anyone and especially not ok for somebody who is in a position of power in a school district. Diminishing is an incorrect term. Call it what it is...bullying and manipulating. Have you ever talked to Krizic? Have you ever had a conversation with her? Don't leave your guard down, principals and teachers. If you do not pay close attention, Krizic will begin to suck you into her way of thinking which is always, of course, the right way.

And now The Elmhurst Patch has The Portsmouth Patch on their site...Wonderful! And there is a 6+ min interview on http://www.hummelreport.org/ about this also…
This Portsmouth parent does not understand why she can do this for 18 months and my son gets written up for making flatulence noises on the bus just for that one day…really!!! And the bus monitor said it was bullying. Really?? What about the bullying that this monitor, (who is supposed to be an adult) is allowed to do…Really??

Bottom line....Which state is she registered to vote in....That determines her residency. I've known many military people that maintained their voting rights in their domiclle state and therefore their vehicle is legally registered in that state. I'd have to know all the facts, and obviously we don't.
