Portsmouth State Rep's Parents Must Pay $1.3 Million in Back Taxes
The Supreme Court has ruled that a former Portsmouth couple must pay late taxes totaling more than $1.3 million.

The state's most delinquent taxpayers, a former Portsmouth couple and parents of State Rep. Dan Reilly, must pay back all unpaid taxes according to a court ruling Thursday.
The Rhode Island Supreme Court has ruled that William J. and Marielle T. Reilly of Florida, formerly of Portsmouth, must pay back unpaid taxes totaling $1.3 million, reports The Providence Journal.
In 2011, the Reillys appeared on the list of top 100 most-delinquent personal income taxpayers in the state of Rhode Island. The couple of Boca Raton, FL, then owed the state $1,372,976.85 in unpaid income taxes.
Their son, Rep. Dan Reilly (Republican- District 72, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth), recently announced his declaration to run for a second term in office. Reilly cited tax reform in his announcement.
“We still have an unsustainable tax climate,” said Reilly at the time. “The tax reform that happened before I got there, hasn’t gotten the job done.”
Reilly, 23, graduated from Providence College with a bachelor's degree in general studies this past spring. The freshmen representative plans to attend Roger Williams Law School in the fall.

Patch should spend more time on the story so reader can understand why they dispute the Tax Claim . Dan Reilly has nothing to do with this story. More facts, less got you cheap shots.
I have been nothing but impressed with Dan's work in the legislature . He has taken on the challenge with intelligence ,and true grit. Go Dan!

Some of his work in the legislaure was cosponsoring a bill to require an procedure to determine the sex of a fetus prior to an abortion.

Let's do background checks on all the writers here to make it fair. The kid is a model citizen and brilliant student. (And I did not vote for him.) Why not look at the facts? The reason they want tolls on an overpass in Portsmouth is there is no way to fight them.

Real hard-hitting journalism here. Why not find out what trouble Representative Reilly’s pets are getting into? Or, perhaps his neighbors are up to something nefarious that needs to be addressed. Is that all you got?
