Portsmouth Resident Gives Google Glass First Test

A local resident was chosen to test out the new Google glasses here in Rhode Island.

A local resident here in Newport County was selected by Google for the "Glass Explorer" program to test out the new and highly-anticipated Google Glass

The Google Glass is a wearable computer with a head-mounted display that is being developed by Google. Portsmouth science fiction writer John McDaid was recently chosen to take part in the "Glass Explorer" progam. 

He has been testing the head-mounted computer here in Rhode Island throughout the weekend after picking up his Glass from Google in New York on Friday, June 14.

He tested the Google Glass navigation, sent e-mails, messages and even, using the hands-free device, shot a video of his travel over the new Sakonnet River Bridge.
